On April 14th, 2016, specialists from Zhejiang Fishery Breeding Center, etc. made on-site review on the growth and caviar productivity of the new breed "Xunlong #1" co-bred by China Academy of Fishery Sciences Heilongjiang Institute and Xunlong, as compared with those of its parents Amur sturgeon and Kaluga. The specialist group randomly picked specimens of the three species, measured their weights and ovary weights, inspected fry releasing records and farming log, visually measured their health condition, and heard a research report made by Dr. Zhang Ying of Heilongjiang Institute, and affirmed the achievements made by the breeding program.

The new species hybrid "Xunlong #1", its parents being Kaluga (mother) and Amur sturgeon (father), was bred with population breeding and hybrid breeding technology based on farming characteristics of Kaluga and Amur sturgeon. It has the advantages of fast growth, easy taming, early sexual maturation, and high caviar yield. The success of of this new breed is of great significance to enrich sturgeon varieties and promote healthy industry development in China.
