Sturgeon Cage Farming Energy Saving Emission Reduction Technology Pilot Study passes review

On Sep 25th, 2015, Cage Farming Sewage Collection Technology and Equipment Project Review Meeting was held in the Haiwaihai Holiday Hotel of Qiandaohu. The project was designed and implemented by Hangzhou Qiandaohu Xunlong Sci-tech Co. Ltd. Specialists from Zhejiang Fishery Technology Promotion Station, Provincial Fresh Water Fishery Institute, Provincial Environment Science Institute, Provincial Environment Monitoring Center, Hangzhou Environment Science Institute, and Chunan Fishery Bureau listened to a report by Dr. Wu from Xunlong regarding the project’s origin, implementation, and key technology development, etc. and visited the sub farm to observe the full process of sewage collection, treatment and recycling. The specialist group believed that technology of the project is innovative in China’s environmental protection and at the world leading level.

 Large area cage aquaculture started in 1990s, and caught on fast ever since. Starting from 2003, Xunlong was responsible for the Ministry of Agriculture’s 948 Program Sturgeon Cage Farming Technology Pilot Study, which received an Excellence Prize of China – ASEAN Expo Agriculture Technology and Research Achievement Application. Through over ten years of efforts, Xunlong fulfilled many research subjects, built a first-rate sturgeon caviar processing plant, and became a model of fishery development in China.

In order to maintain sustainable development and protect the valuable water resource of the thousand island lake, Xunlong took up the project of Cage Farming Sewage Collection and Environment Protection Technology together with Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences Fishery Machinery Institute. After three years’ of research, a breakthrough in key technology and equipment was made, and the technology was put into use in daily operation of the cage farm. The specialist group suggested scientific and environment friendly cage farming is encouraged so as to realize harmony of resource exploitation and environment protection.
